Lesson 14. Using iCloud to Back Up and Restore Devices

In this lesson, you learn how to protect the data on your iOS devices by backing them up. You also learn how to restore a device from your backup and how to manage your iCloud storage space.

Backing Up iOS Devices

Your iOS devices have lots of data on them, such as photos you’ve taken, contacts, apps, Home screen customizations, and so on. Although it’s likely you have some of this data stored elsewhere (for example, your contacts are probably also stored on a computer), it would be a nuisance to have to redo your iOS device’s configuration should something happen to it. In some cases, such as photos you’ve just taken, data may only be stored on the device for a period of time. By backing up your iOS device, you can easily restore it to recover your data and customized configuration when you need to.
