Optimizing Your E‐Mail

Sending and receiving e‐mail is a standard way in which most businesses communicate today. Recognizing this fact, Salesforce provides you a variety of tools to send e‐mail, use templates, send automated reminders, and work with Microsoft Outlook. If you want to make use of those tools, you need to confirm your e‐mail settings in Salesforce. (See Chapter 8 for all the details on configuring your e‐mail settings, creating templates, and installing and running Outlook Edition.)

One of the key benefits of Salesforce is its ability to act as the main archive for all your customer interactions, including tracking relevant e‐mails. In order to properly send e‐mails from within Salesforce and to ensure that responses get back to you, we recommend that you confirm your basic e‐mail settings using the following steps.
