1. An Introduction to Facebook

This chapter describes what Facebook is, what it offers, and how its site pages are laid out.

Facebook is a huge, online community. If you’re familiar with the college “facebook” given at the beginning of a year so that you get to know your classmates, then you can imagine that facebook online. In a paper facebook, you see photos and biographies of your classmates. On Facebook, you see your friend’s latest photos and videos with, at times, an extensive biography. You can write notes in your print facebook, but if you write notes on your friend’s Facebook Wall, they and sometimes their friends will reply!
