Lesson 8. Communicating Through Facebook > Sending and Receiving Messages

Sending and Receiving Messages

You can send and receive messages through the Facebook Messages page. It works just like an email client, letting you send personal messages to your Facebook friends using a central page that acts like an inbox. You don’t have to know the person’s email address to send him a message; you just need to know his name. You can also attach items to a message, such as a photo or link.

The Messages page also keeps track of your chat conversations. They’re saved along with Facebook email messages and listed on the page as well until you delete them.

To view the Messages page, click the Messages link under the Favorites heading on the left side of the Home page. Figure 8.1 shows an example of a typical Messages page.
