There are still plenty of old Groups on Facebook—social-, craft-, business-, and sports-related Groups, as well as silly ones like “If A Million People Join This Group I will Change My Middle Name to Facebook.” You can find and join these Groups, you just can’t create new ones.
Note:
Old Groups differ from new Groups in a few very important ways. In an old Group, only the head honcho (administrator) can email all the Group’s members; in a new Group, any member can contact all the others with a single email. Old Groups also don’t make it easy for Group members to chat with each other or let them contribute to a shared document; new Groups do. You can think of old Groups as being similar to Facebook Pages (Section 12.1): good primarily for publicly signaling your approval of a certain topic or activity.
