Getting ready to shock

Shocking a movie is a relatively simple process, but preparing for Shockwave requires a measure of analysis and adaptation. Not all features of Director are functional in a shocked movie, and not all movies lend themselves to a Web environment. You'll want to familiarize yourself with the current limitations of a number of parameters: the evolving Shockwave technology, the capabilities of your network server, and your audience's perception of what constitutes an acceptable demand on its browsers (and on its patience).

Should you shock your movie?

The real question should be: "Is a Shockwave movie the best way to achieve what I want to achieve?" You won't hear this from Macromedia, but sometimes Shockwave just isn't appropriate. Here are some questions you should ask and alternatives you might want to consider.
