Lesson 9. Creating Frames > Creating Other Content Documents

Creating Other Content Documents

You now need to create additional documents that will also appear in the content frame.

1.
Create a new HTML document from the Basic Page category of the New Document dialog box. Save the file as local_history.htm in the Lesson_09_Frames folder and title it Lights of the Coast: Locations: Local History. Use the Page Properties to set the background to white and the text to black. Set the link color to #660000, the rollover link color to #CC0000, the visited link color to #333333, and the active link color to #660000.

The document title bar changes to reflect the title and filename for the document.

2.
In the local_history.htm document, insert a table with the following attributes: 2 rows, 1 column, 95 percent, a Border of 0, Cell Padding of 3, Cell Spacing of 3, no Header, no Caption, and the text Exploring the locations where lighthouses are built for the Summary. In the first row, place the location_header.gif image with the alternative text Determining the Location – choosing where to build lighthouses. Copy the text from Lesson_09_Frames/Text/local_history.txt and place it in the second row. Format this text as Verdana at 12 pixels and save the page.

This is the content page that will correspond with a Local History link; you will create a link to this page from the nav frame later in this lesson.

3.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 to create construction.htm in the Lesson_09_Frames folder. Title it Lights of the Coast: Locations: Construction and use Understanding the construction and preservation of lighthouses for the table summary. Use construct_header.gif for the graphic header with Preserving the Lights – –years of reconstruction for the alternative text. Use construction.txt for the text in the second row.

This is the content page that will correspond with a Construction link you will create in the nav frame later in this lesson.

4.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 to create relocation.htm in the Lesson_09_Frames folder. Title it Lights of the Coast: Locations: Relocation and use Replacing and relocating lighthouses for the table summary. Use relocate_header.gif for the graphic header with Relocating the Lights – moving from their original location for the alternative text. Use relocation.txt for the text in the second row.

This is the content page that will correspond with a Relocation link you will create in the nav frame later in this lesson.

You can close local_history.htm, construction.htm, and relocation.htm. Leave the locations.htm file open to use in the next exercise.
