Done is a past participle of the verb do. By definition, done means the task of doing an activity has ended and the job is complete. This is interesting because this deceptively simple definition has a different meaning depending on the context. Let’s look at what it means for offline design and digital design on a waterfall project.
A creative designer who specialises in offline (print) design may be primarily concerned with how best to visually communicate to influence the audience’s perceptions. On a project that starts with a creative brief and ends with printed output, the creative designer expends the majority of her effort on the first third of the process. The designs are then passed to the production artist, who prepares the artwork for print. The designer liaises with the production artist at specific review points and also checks and approves the final print proofs (2.1).
