Chapter 2. CSS Properties How-to - Pg. 7

Chapter 2. CSS Properties How-to Chapter Overview Fireworks has its roots in web graphics. For the longest time, creating visual elements in Fireworks (or other graphics software) culminated in exporting bitmap graphics. Optimization techniques are employed, yes, but every bitmap has file weight to it, no matter how small. The CSS Properties panel virtually eliminates bandwidth for certain types of imagery, such as rounded rectangles and circles with solid, gradient, or semi- transparent fills, by extracting the CSS properties of a selected object. Likewise, Fireworks can extract properties like drop shadows, transforms, and even font properties. In this lesson, you'll learn how to do the following: · Extract CSS properties from a simple shape · Generate a CSS-based graphic, using the extracted properties and Dreamweaver CS5.5 · Extract CSS properties from a variety of web-page interface elements including a rollover button and pod container · Customize a Dreamweaver HTML5 Starter Page to closely match the original Fireworks design, using CSS and one background graphic · Extract CSS properties from a text block in Fireworks and use the rules to customize the look of true HTML text on a web page
