Creating from Scratch
Let’s take a look at the basic application of the CSS Properties panel, before we jump into a full mock-up. We’ll do this by creating styles for a gradient disc.
1. Open Fireworks and choose File > New.
2. Create a document that is about 400 by 400 pixels in size. The exact dimensions are not important.
3. Select the Rectangle tool and while pressing the shift key, draw a square that is about 100 pixels in size.
4. Release the mouse before releasing the Shift key when you reach the desired size.
5. In the Properties panel, set the corner roundness (what will be your border radius in CSS) to 50px. (If you think you will be scaling the shape, set the roundness unit to % until you’re ready to extract the CSS.)
