Managing Core Object Types Through the Webtop

Core Object Types are specialized ContentObject Types that ship with Spectra. They are fully developed ContentObject Types for working with specialized objects such as files, images, RealMedia, and Flash animation files. Most often they are used as embedded objects—in other words, they are used as properties of a Content Item. See Chapter 6 for more information on embedded objects as properties of a ContentObject Type.

Although each Core Object Type is unique, all are handled in similar ways: Each is created in a similar way, and each has Display and Edit methods. Some types have additional methods appropriate to their uses. For example, the File Core Object Type has an Upload method to upload a file from a user's workstation to the Spectra server; the RealMedia Core Object Type has Play and PlayBackground methods.
