Beware of Scrollbars

One important point to mention when talking about elastic layouts is that, because the entire layout will expand along with text size, an unfortunate drawback is the appearance of a horizontal scrollbar when the layout’s width exceeds the browser’s viewport (Figure 8.33). For layouts that are extra-wide to begin with, this could be a factor to be aware of. For narrower designs, the issue isn’t usually a concern.
