I picked up this book because I needed a practical guide to image replacement, but there are so many great recipes here that I can't imagine being without it. Right now I'm appreciating the parts about styling forms and things I didn't know about text.
Some recipes require CSS 3 or HTML 5, but these are clearly labeled. I find it interesting to glimpse into frameworks that aren't covered in most books. In fact, CSS Cookbook helped me to understand differences among current and upcoming browser and markup versions.
