To really get in and affect things in the dynamic realm, you will need to move away from HTML and CSS, and begin using PHP; only PHP can modify the deepest layers of Drupal. The following two sections discuss how to override variables and functions in the theme’s template.php file. You should have a basic understanding of what PHP variables and functions are in order to get the most out of this part of the chapter.
