In earlier editions of this book, I tried to stick to the straight and narrow of table design by explaining how to use them only in the context of tabular data. However, what most people use tables for has nothing to do with columns of numbers. So I've completely revamped this chapter in order to show you how to use tables in a non-standard way—to create multicolumn text, captions for images, sidebars, and more.
