Triggers

Triggers allow you to link anything in your project to anything else, just like a link. But Triggers offer you a twist: you can assign a Dynamic HTML effect that kicks in as the link occurs.

Student Activity: Create a Trigger

1.
Create a trigger on the mouse that will cause the snake to fly onto the page.

  • click on the mouse (not on the text box this time, but directly on the mouse)

Notice the green icon to the right of the mouse. The icon is known as a Cable Drum. You will use the Cable Drum to create the trigger.

  • drag the Cable Drum from the mouse to the snake (as shown in the picture below)

Note

You can change the animation effect by clicking on the snake and choosing DHTML > Insert/Edit Dynamic HTML Effects.

When you release your mouse, a shortcut menu will appear.

  • choose Spiral in/Spiral out

2.
Preview the topic.

3.
Scroll down and click the mouse. The snake should spiral in.

4.
Click the mouse again. The snake should spiral out.

5.
Close the preview, save and close all topics and then close the project.
