"Great intro to Joomla 1.6!" - by Fractured1 on 29-APR-2011

Just starting out with Joomla 1.6?  This is a great book to have at your side.  It starts with the typical intro to Joomla, download and installation walkthrough, and administration.

But where this book shines is from Chapter 4 on.  I spent the bulk of my time in Chapters 4 (Content is King) and 5 (Creating Menus and Navigation)--especially when working through Chapter 10 (Creating a School Site with Joomla!).

This book takes you through extensions, creating a simple CSS template, some basic SEO concepts, and walkthroughs to create three different websites.

Btw, I don't have access to videos in Safari, but the complete CSS template chapter (Chapter 9) is available as part of the preview.  You can check it out here:

It's worth a look.

My only complaint is Barrie's failure to include Appendix B (Joomla! Case Studies) from the previous edition.

This is a book well worth reading.
