Just starting out with Joomla 1.6? This is a great book to have at your side. It starts with the typical intro to Joomla, download and installation walkthrough, and administration.
But where this book shines is from Chapter 4 on. I spent the bulk of my time in Chapters 4 (Content is King) and 5 (Creating Menus and Navigation)--especially when working through Chapter 10 (Creating a School Site with Joomla!).
This book takes you through extensions, creating a simple CSS template, some basic SEO concepts, and walkthroughs to create three different websites.

It's worth a look.
My only complaint is Barrie's failure to include Appendix B (Joomla! Case Studies) from the previous edition.
This is a book well worth reading.
