Using Web’s Positioning Tools

Expression Web frequently gives you two, three, or even more ways to perform a task, and that includes positioning Web page contents. If you’re in a hurry, you can drag-and-drop something on a Web page. Or you can enter values in one of several CSS dialog boxes or task panes. The options all give you a way to place Web page contents with precision while creating layouts that look consistent and use simple, standards-compliant code.

Absolute and Relative Positioning—and More

No matter which of Expression Web’s many positioning options you choose, it helps to know something about the general types of positions an object can assume on a Web page. In fact, the control you choose isn’t the most important thing. The type of positioning you want to specify is what counts. CSS gives you the capability to exercise control, provided you know what your options are. You can choose from these types of positions:
