Chapter 2. Working in the Expression Stu... > Customizing the Interface

Customizing the Interface

When you’re just learning about the interface of different applications for the first time, it might seem a bit premature to talk about customizing them. You have to learn what you’ve got to work with before you can start thinking about changing it, after all. Suffice it to say that each of the Studio applications gives you ways to create keyboard shortcuts or even (in the case of Blend) add animation to a Toolbox tool.

At this stage, what’s most important for you to know is that you are in control when it comes to what appears in the application’s workspace. Any one of the Studio applications, and especially the three creative applications, can get very complex. Don’t lose sight of the fact that you can press the Tab key to clear away everything except the drawing you’re working on (in Design), deselect already selected options in the Task Panes menu or the Toolbars submenu (in Web), or choose Hide Panels from the Window menu (in Blend). That way you can focus on the task at hand.
