ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

THIS BOOK WOULD DEFINITELY not have been possible without the support of my editors, reviewers and all those at Wiley who provided their support. Christina Haviland, Sara Shlaer, Gwenette Gaddis, Doug Vann, Rosemarie Graham, and Carol Long all, amazingly, had the patience and confidence required to guide me through my part of the epic process of bringing this book to life.

It's essential for me to note the great work being done by both the mobile web and CMS communities in general. Without platforms like WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla! (not to mention the army of vast open-source volunteers behind them) this book would be very short.

And there are thousands of developers, technologists and entrepreneurs worldwide who are building a mobile web we can be proud of and bringing its promise to billions of users — through providing tools, resources, plug-ins, or indeed beautiful sites themselves.

In particular, I want to acknowledge the following individuals whose various projects are mentioned in the book or who have supported, helped or inspired me on my own mobile journey: Ronan Cremin, Andrea Trasatti, Ruadhan O'Donoghue, John Leonard and Trey Harvin for the ever-valuable dotMobi initiatives; Luca Passani for WURFL and the powerful WMLprogramming movement; Peter-Paul Koch, Dion Almaer, and John Resig for personifying the broader Web's mobile ambitions; Lee Wright, Brian Fling, Bryan and Stephanie Rieger, Tom Hume, and Maximiliano Firtman for always being ahead of the mobile web curve. Daniel Appelquist, Jo Rabin and Dominique Hazaël-Massieux with the W3C for making us do it right; and last — and most recently — the Sencha team, who help me to glimpse into the future every day.

A word of personal thanks to all those who comment on my blog, meet me at conferences, and discuss mobile with me on Twitter. Also, to those who use my own humble mobile projects — the WordPress Mobile Pack, tinySrc and so on — I'd like to thank you for using them and helping me to improve them. Now that I've finished this book, you can expect renewed development effort!

Most of all, I want to thank my beautiful wife for the motivation, encouragement, and inspiration to both start and finish this book; and my two gorgeous children for their patience during my efforts in between.
