The HIG covers iPads, too

Since the device has changed, let’s go back to the HIG. If you work your way through the iOS Human Interface Guidelines, you’ll find a section called “For iPad: Restrain Your Information Hierarchy.” For DrinkMixer, that means we need to use the extra real estate that comes from the big screen to reduce the number of screen transitions. For example, you can easily display a detail view next to a list view using a Split View Controller.
