Distribution and Installation

One tremendous benefit of using Silverlight is the simple and easy distribution model that allows you to expose applications using a web address. Some applications may need to be distributed offline for various reasons, whether as a resource on network storage or as an image burned to a CD or DVD. Silverlight provides a special executable that assists with distribution and installation of OOB applications. The executable is called sllauncher.exe and is part of the shortcut you will find when you install an OOB application.

The first step is to locate the executable on the target machine. The current version of the launcher will always be located under the Program Files special folder in a subfolder called Microsoft Silverlight. On 64-bit machines, the path is typically this:
