Silent Installation

As an alternative to using the wizard panels to install the Network Deployment package and create the necessary profiles, you can perform a silent installation. With this method, instead of displaying a graphical interface, the installation and profile-creation programs read responses you provide in text files to determine the installation and creation options. As the diagram in Figure 7-43 illustrates, the Network Deployment package contains four response files:

• one to install the product binaries and optionally call one of the other response files

• one to create the deployment manager profile

• one to create the application server profile

• one to create the custom profile and optionally federate to the Deployment Manager (if the Deployment Manager exists and is running when you create the profile)
