When you choose to adopt DITA, the conversion process can be a big, but wise, investment. Before you decide to convert your content to DITA, you need a few DITA experts on your team, so be sure that your experts are knowledgeable about topic-based information, DITA maps, and linking.

Chapter 11 provides tips and guidelines to help you convert your information to DITA. Use this information to help plan and complete the conversion process.

After you convert your content to DITA or if you’ve been writing in DITA for years, you need to ensure that your content is of the highest quality. We recommend that you edit not only your content, but also your DITA markup, or code. Edit your DITA code so that everyone on the team is creating consistent output. And edit your content so that your users see information that’s clear, consistent, complete, accurate, retrievable, and well organized.
