Many people you meet in life demand respect, but unfortunately they forget that they have to earn it first.

One thing that continues to fascinate me is why anyone wants to go into politics. Perhaps it's an ego thing or maybe it's because politicians like talking twaddle and never answering a direct question. Irrespective of why they do, it is a shame that the majority of politicians are not worthy of our respect.

You do not lead by hitting people over the head – that's assault, not leadership.

There are many reasons for this, but in the UK it's been the abuse of the parliamentary expenses system that has lost them much of their credibility and done irreparable damage to their reputation and to politics in general. What is troubling is that when confronted by the press they usually fail to admit any wrongdoing and attempt to blame the system rather than their own greed. If it's not the system, they make some weak excuse that they've been too busy or are no good with numbers. Despite all this, they still expect the electorate to respect them. How can we, when it's patently obvious that many have been caught with their fingers in the till? We wrongly assume that because politicians are in high office they are whiter than white and ....
