We don't ever call any of these "programming languages", because you don't use them to create a series of instructions for a computer. For the same reason, we refer to the markup codes simply as "markup" to avoid confusion with "program code".
ISO isn't an acronym, but a coinage derived from the Greek "isos", for "equal".
